Samplemaker:
Starting Salary: $10 - $13/ hr
(depending upon skill level)
Part-Time/Independent Contractor

Experience:
- At least 4 - 6 years
of experience
- Should have excellent garment construction
- The ability to draft and read patterns
- Able to interpret designer's illustrations
- Must have experience sewing different types of garments (pants, shirts,
coats, jackets) as well as using various woven and knit fabrics
- Knowledge of hand and industrial machine (production) sewing techniques
- Ability to follow the designer directions precisely and accurately
This skilled person will be creating prototypes that manufacturers have to
construct from.

Patternmaker:

- Some knowledge of computer lanquage
- Must posess the ability to see projects through its entirety
- Good flat pattern and draping skills
- Some knowledge of grading techniques
- Some comprehension of marker making
- Possess the knowledge of different types of sleeves, necklines, darts,
waistlines, pleats,
gores, yokes, pockets, skirts, pants...etc...
- Understanding of garment construction and some knowledge of the
manufacturing process, cut
order, cut ticket, deadlines etc...
